[former] Pool Head Primitive Methodist Chapel, near Paddol Green This chapel was originally erected in 1841. In 1864 it was renovated, with 8 new rising pews installed, a boarded floor, a platform, four new windows, a new front door & iron palisading plus a new front wall to the chapel and the whole building newly faced, all at a cost of £55. There is a plaque on the wall whose inscription reads "PRIMITIVE/ METHODIST CHAPEL/ ERECTED 1864/ THEY SHALL PROSPER/ THAT TRUST IN/ THE LORD. This gave me the impression when I first saw it that it was newly- built chapel rather than a substantial alteration of an existing chapel.The chapel closed in 1983 & was de-registered as a place of worship on 22nd February 1985. By the early years of this century it was totally derelict & boarded up. It has since been converted to a dwelling following a planning application in 2003. Grid ref: SJ 495324
