[former] Independent Methodist Chapel, Beatrice Street, Oswestry A small chapel was built in plain brick by the Independent Methodists (a local breakaway group from the Primitive Methodists) in 1848 in Beatrice Street. In the 1851 census there were reported to be 30 worshippers at their afternoon service and 60 at their evening one, together with 30 Sunday scholars at both services. In 1859 the chapel was said to be near "the Pystil" in Beatrice Street. In 1866 the chapel was advertised to be let to be used as a day school. Further trace of this congregation has failed but it is possible that it became part of the United Free Methodists who were meeting in Castle Street by 1870.
