Bethel Primitive Methodist Chapel, Hopton Bank Bethel chapel was built of polychrome brick in 1880, builders being invited to tender for its construction in June 1880. The laying of the memorial stones took place on the 5th August of that year. The chapel had seating for about 300 worshippers and cost over £400 to build. The builder was Mr R. Carless of Hopton. The first service was held there on the 17th April 1881. It was built next to the former stone-built chapel which it replaced. There is a graveyard adjoining the chapel with recent (as well as old) gravestones in it. The chapel was registered for solemnizing marriages on 22nd February 1933. The chapel is still in use (2023) and in good condition. Grid ref: SO 621767
