[former] Hollinswood Methodist New Connexion Chapel, Shifnal The first Methodist New Connexion chapel in Hollinswood was built in 1832. In 1851 there were 41 worshippers at their morning service, 89 in the afternoon and 74 in the evening, as well as 60 and 71 Sunday scholars in the morning and afternoon. There was seating, mostly free, for about 150 worshippers. In 1854 it was said that for 22 years they had had a small but incommodious chapel, so felt the necessity for enlarging it. Only lack of money prevented it. They wrote in early October 1854 that they entered upon the work about 10 months ago, i.e. at the end of 1853. The old chapel was taken down & a bigger one erected on the same site, at a cost of about £100. The chapel was built of plain brick, 33 ft long x 24 ft wide. On the front was an inscribed stone & a well-finished portico, enclosed by a wall 6 ft high with a gate in front of the chapel. It had a neat pulpit, a singers gallery, and pews and free benches. It was capable of seating 200 worshippers. The chapel re-opened on 26 February 1854 and was later known as "Zoar". In 1865 the front gable was taken down & rebuilt further forward to make room for a schoolroom at the back. In 1901 the chapel closed due to lack of membership and by 1922 only the foundations of the building were left.
